I just received word that the tank that was leaking has been emptied and we are hooked up to new tanks with safe, new connections. We are clear to enter the building and hold school at the regular time tomorrow. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for your patience in resolving this situation.

Our first ever digital newsletter!

At this point we have informed all parents that we had a gas leak at our building today. We quickly evacuated and reunified students with parents while the fire department cleared the building. Maintenence needs more time to work on the leak so we get to go virtual! We will use technology to work through our day until the school is safe again. We are thankful for the quick responses of all who helped. Keeping kids and staff safe is of utmost importance to our district. I will see each of you tomorrow as I come by your houses and will be available all day.

Hay! We're from the country, and we like it that way!! A hay ride, corn hole, ring toss, face painting, popcorn, snacks, singing and dancing make for an amazing day! Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Broderick for arranging for the hayride and to the Adams' for the pumpkins and the Daltons and Johnsons and Lathroms for helping out!

Learning to write words with "sh" and "ch".

In music class today we learned how to locate the notes on the piano and played scales.

Deputy Dunn came to our school to talk about safe and healthy choices. He taught us about thinking before making a choice and how consequences can be good or bad.

Our state has implemented new computer scince standards to get kids coding and using technology. During STEAM time last week, we used our coding mice. Students plan how to get the mice to the cheese and then type in the program to make it move.

Sharing the love of books and reading during Book Box time. Students choose whatever they want to read during this part of the day.

Storytime is our favorite time! We are working through some classic folk and fairy tales. On this day we were reading "The Frog Prince."

Did you know that we have an app to keep up with our school events? Search up San Juan School District and download the free app. Be sure to follow La Sal Elementary as well as any other school you need info from.

These Stallions were RED-y to make safe and healthy choices. Today we talked about medicine safety. Reinforce with your child that only parents/guardians can give children medicine.

Red Ribbon Week Schedule

Monday begins Red Ribbon Week. Wear red to show that we are RED-y to make good choices.

More Family Night photos.

Half of our students came to make edible play dough for Family Night. So much fun was had by all!

Kindergarten students are working on reading numbers to 10. They are playing Go Fish to help them practice. Play this at home to practice!

Last week a parent jumped in to work with kindergarten reading. He did such a great job that I may retire!

This week in STEAM we are working with scales. Later this week kids will try to build their own seesaws.

Dear Parent(s) and Stakeholders,
The San Juan School District Board of Education members are seeking information to help best serve its patrons. As a consequence of the Covid19 Pandemic, it was necessary to suspend the practice of rotating board meeting locations from school to school within the county and hold them in one location (the Boardroom at the District Office in Blanding) and broadcast them virtually to parents and stakeholders. A modern, efficient broadcast system has been purchased and installed in the Board Room in the District Office in Blanding. This system was purchased using ESSER Care funds to help facilitate effective public participation into the virtual board meetings. A rise in participation of patrons resulted. In the past five months, the lowest number of viewers has been 60 with the highest being over a 100. These numbers are substantially higher than participation numbers in meetings prior to the Pandemic.
Now with the Pandemic subsiding to some degree, the Board of Education is seeking some input regarding the best way to provide stakeholder access to board meetings in the future. Should board meetings return to a rotation of in-person meetings at schools where broadcasting effectiveness is less than ideal due to many factors, or should board meetings remain in the Board Room in Blanding and be broadcasted virtually to patrons utilizing the modern, effective system? The Board of Education is asking you to provide your input into the decision by completing the attached survey. Thank you so much for your valuable time.
